I used to think that I wanted to have slender, skinny legs like every other model. ‘Why why why didn’t I have skinny long legs like them?’ I would always complain to myself. One day, my boyfriend taught me to squat. Squats quickly became my favourite exercise. Every week I threw more weight onto that bar and I learned over a couple of months that I could squat twice my body weight. These days I LOVE my legs….and my butt! Thick legs are strong legs! Strong is sexy! Hahaha!
Hi everyone…
I know that everyone is pretty over the whole ‘facebook like to vote’ thing, but this is something that is really special to me.
As you know, I’ve been working on my fitness for a while now, and I’m also studying to be a P.T.
I haven’t actually mentioned this publicly before - but I’m planning to compete in my first fitness competition later in the year, so to win a competition prep package, sponsorship and to be featured with amazing fitness models like Summer Bernard would be an absolute dream come true, and a MASSIVE step forward in my planned career.
This is is guys, this is what I want. I’d spent so much time floundering around not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. It feels amazing to finally have focus!
Please help me out by following the link and clicking ‘like’!
Much love xoxo
Every little bit counts
Took this photo for fun! Hopefully the next time I crack a pose like this I’ll have a bit more muscle tone eh? :)
xoxo
I’m not as lean as I was a month ago, but I’m finding that combining cardio/boxing sessions in the morning with my weight training is proving to be fantastic for my core! I’m so excited to be seeing shapes under there I’ve never had before!
This was a little before I fell off the band wagon! Probably at my leanest.
I’m giving myself roughly two weeks to get back to this state and then surpass my level of fitness (at least visually, the strength will be a little slower to regain I suspect!)!
I want to build on the booty, get nicer shoulders, have killer definition in my legs and a little bit more ab work.
Forever a work in progress, but that’s the way I like it <3
Hi guys!
First of all, I really want to apologise to those of you who have been following my posts and finding nothing new!
Let me tell you what has happened over the last month.
I had a bit of a downward spiral - I’d been worried sick about family members, my old workplace wasn’t a positive place to be anymore, my partner has been away for a long time now (he’s a soldier, so two guesses where he’s at! lol) and life was generally a little bit of a struggle. I was totally, 100% stressed out and suffering the biggest acne breakout I’d had since I was 17 (hahaha). The stress had begun to manifest itself in forms of sickness - I basically never get sick anymore, so it was a bit of a big deal.
I’d had enough.
So what did I do?
I reset!
I left my old job, visited my mum, worked as a promotional model and ring girl in between, found a new, more stable job better suited to my personality that I love, requested an extension on my assignments for my Fitness Certificates and took some time out to refresh.
Unfortunately there were a lot of complications during those few weeks, and I am so thankful to everyone who supported me, offered me advice and er, lent me cash during that period of time so I could still live normally while in between normal jobs and pay (working as a model means you may not receive your pay for up to 3 weeks sometimes!).
At the end of the day, I’m human, so my fitness routine and nutrition did falter for a few weeks. I’d been out drinking, I’ve been digging into muffins. I hadn’t hit the squat rack for quite a while….
Not good!
I’ve lost almost all of the muscle I’d worked so hard for and so much of my strength! The 100kg squats I was so proud of are now something I will have to work up to again - but you know what? I can get it all back!
That’s the beauty of fitness. There is ALWAYS something to be gained. You never lose as long as you have goals set and work towards them.
Here is my fresh, new fitness regime!
Monday Nights - Kettlebell Tabata - This is a pretty intense full body kettlebell circuit. Basically you do as many reps as you can within a certain time frame, break for 20 seconds, and start up again. I think there are about 8-10 sets with each exercise. I’ve always been a big fan of kettlebells, so I’m very excited to be introducing them into my routine in this way.
Tuesday Morning: Boxing - I’d never done a boxing session in a normal gym, and from what I’ve seen….This isn’t the same as those you might experience at your local Goodlife or Fitness First. The sessions I’ve attended are extremely intense and I’ve wanted to throw up more than once! The core exercises they give you at the end make it hurt to sneeze and laugh for the next two days. After all the pain though, you feel amazing.
Wednesday: Leg day. I’m back to my squat rack. I’ve lowered my weight down and am doing 15 reps, 3-4 sets. I’d like to get back to squatting big by the time my partner gets back home. When he left me, I couldn’t actually squat the olympic bar without shaking all over the place and needing a spotter. I’m definitely a different woman now!
Thursday: Thursday is a focus on building shoulders, back and upper body.
Friday morning: Boxing
Friday evening: Legs again - I need my butt back please!
Saturday and Sunday are currently rest days.
This is a program I’m going to tweak and change depending on how my body responds. I’m having a lot of fun experiencing new exercises and I’m learning so much!
Keep your eyes peeled for my updates and for photos of progress!
Much love,
Katina xoxo
My friend Daniela posted this this morning. It’s a really important issue!
I know a lot of my friends are probably actually a size 6 (28 UK or US) back but don’t know it because it’s not easily available. I’m supposed to be in a size 4 (26 in US or UK back sizing), but I’m not able to get it here in Australia.
We should not be getting ignored or treated as ‘juniors’ because we are petite! I’m a woman, dammit.
“To all my lovely lady friends who wear a bra band size that’s 8, 6 or lower, visit http://boosaurusbras.blogspot.com/2012/03/bra-band-project.html and help show manufacturers they’re not junior sizes, they’re real sizes. “
